A Christmas miracle?

January 27, 2011

Admittedly it’s a little late in the season to be crying “Christmas miracle”, but something astounding happened in our garden over the weekend and it darn near brought me to tears. Our much loved, lewd looking cactus Carl, burts forth into bloom! I mean, surely this is a once-in-a-hundred-years type event?

Frankly I didn’t know he had it in him, and I also wonder if the flowering is foreshadowing his death, you know how some plants do that “ta-da” thing and then just go to seed?

    Oh, Carl! Wonderful.

Is Carl actually just one plant, or is he several? I mean he might be like The Borg collective. See those little mini-Carls at the bottom of the pot? Even if It might be curtains for Carl Senior I think those Carlitos are only getting started.

Anyway lovely photos. You should take some of Mr Miyagi too.

  2. What a handsome fellow Carl is! What a lovely story, hope he is still doing okay x
